[WATCH] IPL 2025: KL Rahul mimics Kevin Pietersen, Faf du Plessis' batting stance during DC team dinner
KL Rahul was acquired for INR 14 crore by Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2025 mega-auction.
Delhi Capitals' newly signed Indian star KL Rahul grabbed the limelight at the team dinner by mimicking the iconic batting stances of mentor Kevin Pietersen and vice-captain Faf du Plessis. Rahul, made a late joining to the squad after the birth of his baby girl, was seen showing off his acting skills during the team bonding session ahead of DC’s upcoming IPL 2025 clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Sunday.
Rahul missed DC’s opening match against Lucknow Super Giants, as he and his wife Athiya Shetty recently welcomed their first child. Despite his unavailability, the Capitals celebrated the happy occasion by performing the cradle celebration in the dressing room after their thrilling one-wicket victory over LSG. After joining the squad in Visakhapatnam, Rahul participated in the special team dinner.
However, his mimicry of Pietersen and Faf quickly went viral on social media. The Indian batter first acted out the Englishman's unorthodox batting stance and later imitated his voice. “Mate, any guesses?" Looking at the impersonation, the former England captain had a big smile on his face. Following that, the 32-year-old copied the stance of the former South African skipper as well.

Meanwhile, KL will straight walk into Delhi's playing XI for the upcoming game. He is expected to replace Sameer Rizvi, who had a disappointing outing against Lucknow, first by dropping Nicholas Pooran's catch and then with the bat was dismissed after adding just four runs.

Furthermore, Rahul, who was acquired for INR 14 crore in the mega-auction, will be a crucial addition to the already strong DC squad. In the previous edition, Rahul was leading the Lucknow-based franchise and scored 520 runs in 14 innings, including four fifties. However, the side failed to qualify for the playoffs as they finished on the seventh position, after winning seven out of their 14 games.
