Marcus Stoinis scored a brisk 20 off 15 balls in Punjab Kings' (PBKS) thrilling 11-run win against Gujarat Titans (GT) at the enormous Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Tuesday, March 25.

The Australian all-rounder is nicknamed 'The Hulk' for a reason. He is one of the fiercest hitters in world cricket, and his power was on display, albeit briefly, in match No. 5 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Walking out to bat at No. 6, Stoinis scored just a single off his first six balls. However, a boundary off R Sai Kishore in the 13th over gave him the confidence he needed.

A couple of overs later, Stoinis latched on to a back-of-a-length delivery from Mohammed Siraj and deposited a flat pull shot over deep mid-wicket for his first maximum in Punjab Kings' colours. The ball hit a female security official, who was walking by, without looking at the action on the field. This did not help her cause as she copped a blow to her right leg. The fans and officials were concerned about her well-being. However, thankfully, it seemed that she recovered swiftly from the blow. However, there will certainly be some swelling in the area where she got hit.

Punjab Kings get off to winning start in IPL 2025

While Stoinis was dismissed for a 15-ball 20, Shreyas Iyer played a blinder in his maiden appearance as Punjab captain. The Mumbai batter remained unbeaten on 97 off 42 balls, belting five fours and nine sixes. He got excellent support from Priyansh Arya (47) and Shashank Singh (44*) as Punjab amassed 243/5 in their 20 overs.

In reply, Sai Sudharsan and Jos Buttler scored half-centuries for the Titans, while Shubman Gill and Sherfane Rutherford also contributed with aggressive knocks. However, the former champions finished on 232/5, losing the clash by 11 runs.
