Mitchell Starc loves bowling against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), and the love affair continued in Visakhapatnam in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 on Sunday, March 30.
After winning the toss against Delhi Capitals (DC) in the afternoon fixture, Pat Cummins decided to bat first. However, the Orange Army got off to a disastrous start as they lost the wicket of Abhishek Sharma through a run out in the first over. In the following over, Starc struck twice as he got the better of Ishan Kishan and Nitish Kumar Reddy.
DC captain Axar Patel made a brave call of bowling Starc a third over inside the powerplay, and the move paid dividends. The Australian seamer dismissed the in-form Travis Head with a short ball. The southpaw tried to lift the ball over the wicketkeeper KL Rahul's head. However, the ball kissed his gloves on the way to Rahul, who pouched it with both hands. Head stood in disbelief for a brief while before shaking his head and subsequently walking off the field.
Starc's sensational burst with the new ball helped his team peg back the Cummins-led side, as they lost four wickets for 58 runs at the end of the firs six overs.
Starc has bowled seven balls to Head in the IPL and dismissed the flamboyant batter on a couple of occasions. The left-handed batter has managed only 10 runs at an average of five. Starc has a brilliant record against SRH. He won the Player of the Match award against them last season in Qualifier 1 as well as in the final when he used to play for the Kolkata Knight Riders.
