Mohammed Shami was ripped apart for four sixes in a row by Marcus Stoinis during Match 27 of the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Punjab Kings at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Saturday, April 12. SRH ended up on 245/6 at the end of their innings courtesy of Stoinis' late blitz.

The first maximum was a 93-metre hit over wide long-on. The next two hits were pummelled to deep midwicket. The final delivery of the innings was a low full-toss down leg which was dispatched over deep square leg for the fourth six in a row.

Stoinis ended the innings unbeaten on 34* (11), in a brutal display of batting which entailed one four and four sixes. Skipper Shreyas Iyer top-scored with 82 off 36 to his name. His blistering knock comprised six fours and as many sixes. Earlier in the evening, PBKS made the most of their powerplay by whacking 89.

Shami registers unwanted record with second-most expensive spell in IPL

After conceding 75 runs in his four-over spell, Shami marked his name in an undistinguished list by registering the second-most expensive spell in the history of the IPL. His spell of 0/75 comprised only three dot balls in total. A total of 13 boundaries (six fours and seven sixes) were scored. Earlier in IPL 2025, Jofra Archer conceded 76 during his four-over quota.

This was also the second game of the current IPL season that the speedster went wicketless after his outing against Delhi Capitals on Sunday, March 30. The most number of runs he had conceded this season was 37 against Lucknow Super Giants, a game prior to the aforementioned fixture against DC.
