Mohammed Siraj produced a stunning delivery to dismiss star opener Rohit Sharma in the clash between Gujarat Titans (GT) and Mumbai Indians (MI) of the IPL 2025 at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Siraj, who had conceded back-to-back boundaries, made a brilliant comeback, cleaning up Rohit with a delivery that left the former MI skipper surprised.

Chasing 197, the five-time champions were expecting a strong start from their opening pair of Rohit and Ryan Rickelton. However, Siraj made sure they didn't get settled. The pacer, who opened the bowling, was flicked off a fuller delivery to the mid-on boundary on the second ball, and then a loose leg-side delivery was once again sent for another four by Rohit. While Siraj was under pressure, he executed a perfect back-of-a-length ball that came back in sharply, outfoxing the veteran batter.

The ball sneaked through the gap between bat and pad, crashing into the middle and off bail. Rohit, who had already been dismissed for a duck in MI’s opening game against Chennai Super Kings, once again fell cheaply, departing for 8 off 4 balls. Following his early dismissal, his opening partner Rickelton also walked back after being dismissed by Siraj.

GT and MI entered the match looking for their first win of the tournament after suffering defeats in their respective opening games. Mumbai captain Hardik Pandya won the toss and elected to bowl first. The home team was restricted to 196/8, with Sai Sudharsan’s half-century playing the anchor role. Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler also contributed but fell short of converting them into big scores. Pandya was the pick of the bowlers, claiming two wickets.
