[Watch] IPL 2025: Shardul Thakur's double strike sends back Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan
Abhishek fell for a run-a-ball six while Kishan got a golden duck.
Shardul Thakur struck twice in a row to dismiss southpaws Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan during Match 7 of IPL 2025 between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Lucknow Super Giants on Thursday, March 27.
A well-executed short delivery led to Abhishek's dismissal as he miscued a pull to Nicholas Pooran at deep square. Pooran made no mistake and Shardul secured his first wicket as Abhishek departed for a run-a-ball 6. The subsequent delivery was not Shardul's best. However, Kishan ended up nicking the wayward ball down the leg side to wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant, going back with a golden duck to his name.

3Meanwhile, the Pant-led LSG outfit opted to field first on winning the toss. The first two overs were relatively quiet as only 15 runs came off those.

Kishan, who was acquired by SRH for INR 11.25 crore, smashed his maiden IPL ton in what was a truly mesmerising knock by the southpaw. His unbeaten 106 off 47 deliveries was one of the main reasons for SRH to attain the second-highest total in the league (286/6). As for Abhishek, this was a second unsuccessful outing in a row, after contributing only 24 off 11 in the previous game. SRH ended up emerging deserving victors by 44 runs to get their IPL 2025 off to a winning start.
