[Watch] IPL 2025: Trent Boult castles Phil Salt as immediate response to first-ball boundary

Phil Salt had to head back to the pavilion after a sumptuously inswinging delivery by Trent Boult got the better of the batter on the second delivery of Match 20 of the 2025 edition of the Indian Premier League between Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

Salt had smeared a cover drive on the first delivery of the game off an over-pitched delivery by the left-armer. Boult's response was bang on target the very next ball. Salt couldn't belive what had unfolded as he trudged his way back to the pavilion.

RCB ended up making the most of the remainder of the powerplay. A flurry of boundaries by Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal led the visitors to race to 73/1 at the end of the first six overs. Deepak Chahar turned out to be the most expensive bowler, conceding 29 in his first couple of overs.

Earlier in the evening, the Hardik Pandya-led side won the toss and opted to field first. Hardik revealed two changes in his side from the previous game. As opposed to MI, RCB made no changes to their XI from their eight-wicket loss to Gujarat Titans on April 2.

In a notable development for MI, Jasprit Bumrah returned to the mix after missing MI's first four games of IPL 2025. In fact, Bumrah has not played any form of competitive cricket since January. He had sustained a stress injury in his back during India's five-match tour Down Under.
