Watch: Ishan Kishan gets chirpy with Virat Kohli, sledges West Indies batters from behind stumps in Dominica Test

The ongoing Test match between the West Indies and India saw a plethora of opportunities being offered to up-and-coming cricketers on Day 1. The 21-year-old, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and star batter, Ishan Kishan, made their Test debuts after a long wait. Jaiswal took over the opener role from Shubman Gill, with the latter moving down to the number three spot. 

Whereas Ishan Kishan came in for KS Bharat, who last featured for India in the final of the World Test Championship against Australia. With the West Indies opting to bat first, it was safe to say that Kishan’s debut behind the stumps was quite successful, as he caught two catches to dismiss Raymon Reifer and Joshua Da Silva.

Furthermore, it has also been known that Kishan is quite talkative behind the stumps, as he was often captured instructing fielders, motivating the bowlers, and even attempting to sledge the Windies’ batters from time to time. In a compilation of the clips of the 24-year-old's antics behind the stumps, he was also seen instructing ace batter, Virat Kohli, to change his fielding position as well.

Notably, Ishan Kishan has been a regular player for India in the T20 setup, as he has represented the national team in 27 T20Is, amassing 653 runs to his name with an average of 25.11 runs and a strike rate of 122.74. Furthermore, he has played several matches in ODI cricket along with an incredible double century to his name. 

His long-awaited Test debut finally came against the West Indies in the Dominica Test, and the 24-year-old will be keen on making the most of the opportunity when he dons the coveted whites. 

India bundle West Indies out for 150 runs

Talking about the game, the West Indies won the toss and opted to bat first. Aiming to notch up a big total on the board, the side put in a horrid performance with the bat. The entire batting lineup was at the mercy of the Indian bowling attack. 

Alick Athanaze was the highest run-getter for the hosts, scoring 47 runs in 99 deliveries. In the first innings, the West Indies only managed to score 150 runs. As the Indian team came out to bat, they amassed 80 runs on the board without losing a wicket when stumps were called on Day 1.
