Indian wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan received an emotional farewell from his family as he headed to Australia for the upcoming tour with the India A team.

The 26-year-old was recently named in the 15-member India A squad led by Ruturaj Gaikwad. In a video doing the rounds on social media, Kishan's family members showered him with love and blessings as he prepared to leave for the airport.

After taking a break during the South Africa tour in 2023 and missing the last round of the Ranji Trophy 2023-24 despite the BCCI's directive, he faced significant consequences, including removal from the BCCI's central contract list. However, Kishan has made a roaring comeback to the field.

After making his comeback in IPL 2024, Kishan has steadily built momentum through various domestic tournaments. Earlier this year, he took part in the Buchi Babu tournament, followed by his selection for India C in the Duleep Trophy.

Furthermore, he also was picked to represent the Rest of India against Mumbai in the Irani Cup title match. The wicketkeeper-batter has been in good form of late, as he scored a century for Jharkhand against Railways in the ongoing Ranji Trophy tournament.

India A to play two unofficial Tests against Australia A

The upcoming Australia tour features two unofficial Tests beginning October 31. The matches will be played in Mackay and Melbourne, will be followed by an intra-squad game against the Indian senior team preparing for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

The southpaw has so far participated in two Tests, 27 ODIs, and 32 T20Is, including being part of the 2023 World Cup squad. Meanwhile, with reports circulating about skipper Rohit Sharma's absence for the first few Tests in the BGT, the upcoming tour is a good opportunity to make a strong case for himself as an opener.
