The New Year Test has witnessed another terrible display of batting from the Indian team at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG). The team will have to come back stronger with the ball and look to bowl out the hosts as soon as possible.
The Indian batters have not had much luck in this series and it was no different on the first day of the Sydney Test as well. The team had to deal with another contentious call after Yashasvi Jaiswal's in the Boxing Day Test. This time it was concerned with Washington Sundar.
Sundar was dismissed for a score of 14 following an appeal for a caught behind down the leg side after Sundar attempted to pull the delivery. The umpires had given it not out but the Australians went on to review it with Snicko showing a slight murmur suggesting it had brushed Sundar's glove on the way to the keeper. Though one might have thought that there was no conclusive evidence it turned out to be enough for the third umpire to overrule the on-field umpire's decision.
It was another decision that caused drama and India skipper Jasprit Bumrah who came on to bat next questioned and argued about the decision given by the third umpire with on-field umpire Michael Gough.

Though the Indians were bowled out for 185 runs, they managed to find something going their way late in the day as they dismissed Usman Khawaja for just two runs on the last delivery of the day. Khawaja edged Jasprit Bumrah straight into the hands of KL Rahul in the slips.
