WATCH: Jasprit Bumrah bamboozles Travis Head at MCG, departs for duck
Head departed for a seven-ball duck.
India pacer Jasprit Bumrah cleared Travis Head with an impeccable inswinger in the fourth Test against Australia at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground. The flamboyant batter troubled the visitors throughout the series but at the MCG, he failed to read the line as the 30-year-old made an error in judgement as he lifted his bat and Bumrah’s inswinger went on to smash the top of the off stump. Head was left bamboozled as he departed for a seven-ball duck.
Throughout the series, India captain Rohit Sharma faced flak for not bringing in Bumrah against Head. He didn’t make the mistake at MCG as the premiere India pacer was introduced as soon as the Australia international walked in and he delivered almost immediately. Interestingly, Rohit set an attacking field for the cricketer, which might have played a part in the batter's head as he failed to open his tally in the middle.

Meanwhile, Bumrah, who had a rough morning, made a strong comeback in the third session of the day. Earlier in the day, debutant Sam Konstas punished him as the youngster smacked him all across the ground. He also conceded 54 runs in his first spell, which lasted six overs. Later, he made a strong comeback by picking the wickets of Usman Khawaja, and Travis Head and also clinched the wicket of Mitchell Marsh, who departed for four runs.

Konstas’ aggressive batting at the top order gave Australia momentum and the top order capitalized on that. The 19-year-old departed for 60 runs but he set things up for Usman Khawaja and Marnus Labuschagne, as the pair scored a half-century each. The southpaw, who was having a difficult time in the series, scored 57 runs, and that will give Khawaja the confidence that he lacked earlier.
Batting at four, Steve Smith also completed his half-century in 71 deliveries. It was his sixth half-century at the MCG and it came at the right time as the hosts are looking to extend their score and put India in trouble.
