Indian pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah was seen bowling at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru, as a recent video of his training surfaced online. The right-arm pacer has been out of action since sustaining a lower-back injury in the Sydney Test of the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia. The same injury forced him out of India’s victorious 2025 ICC Champions Trophy campaign.

Mumbai Indians (MI) head coach Mahela Jayawardene recently provided an update on the pacer’s rehabilitation, stating that he has been tracking the bowler’s progress closely. However, the Sri Lankan mentioned that the medical team at the Centre of Excellence has not given a fixed timeline for his return to competitive cricket.

With MI struggling in the ongoing IPL 2025 after two successive defeats, the sight of Bumrah bowling in the nets comes as a major boost for the franchise and its fans. The renowned slow starters have lost both the games they have played so far, losing the season opener to Chennai Super Kings by four wickets in Chennai before a 36-run loss to Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad.

Hardik Pandya and co. will play their first home game of the season, against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), on March 31 and will be eager to turn things around at the Wankhede Stadium.

Meanwhile, on the international side, India will face England in a five-match test series in June. If the Gujarat-born bowler is fit, his presence will be crucial for the team, given the tough English conditions.
