Watch: Jasprit Bumrah shatters stumps on return after back injury
India's premium pacer picked up an injury in the final Test of the BGT 2024-25.
Star Indian pace bowler, Jasprit Bumrah, recently posted a video of him making a comeback to bowling via an Instagram post captioned "Progress every day 📈". The clip, posted on February 27, revealed him practising spot-bowling during a net session on a cricket ground.
Although Bumrah did not look to run in with the same vigour as he usually does, the short video was a promising indicator for the Indian cricket fraternity. Notably, he had sustained an injury to the back in the Syndey Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. The injury not only ruled him out from the final innings of the series but also prevented him from being a part of India's 15-member roster for the ongoing Champions Trophy.
Watch the video below:
Bumrah ended up as the leading wicket-taker of the recent tour Down Under. He ended up with a whopping tally of 32 wickets to his name in nine innings, averaging 13.06 across the 151.2 overs sent down by him. There were a lot of speculations doing the rounds about the unfair amount of workload being piled onto his shoulders as being one of the primary reasons for Bumrah to sustain the injury.
As far as India’s Champions Trophy 2025 campaign is concerned, they have already made it through to the knockouts of the marquee ODI tournament. Their first couple of games in the tournament saw the finalists of the previous season claim victories against Bangladesh and Pakistan by six wickets, respectively.

Their final group-stage game is against New Zealand on Sunday, March 2. Indian cricket enthusiasts speculate that the pacer could come back for the final if India make it that far. However, it seems unlikely that the Board of Control for Cricket in India and the team management would want to rush him back into action.
