Match 23 of IPL 2025 is being played between the Gujarat Titans (GT) and Rajasthan Royals (RR). RR skipper Sanju Samson won the toss and elected to bowl first. They made one change, bringing in Fazalhaq Farooqi in place of Wanindu Hasaranga, who misses the match due to personal reasons. GT remained unchanged.
GT opened the innings with Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill, while England pacer Jofra Archer took the new ball for RR. The Titans scored seven runs in the first over bowled by Archer, followed by another seven runs off Farooqi’s over. The English pacer clocked a fiery 152.3 kmph in his first over and looked in excellent rhythm as he returned for his second.
In the very first ball of the third over, Archer delivered a banger to GT skipper Shubman Gill at a speed of 147.7 kmph. Gill, attempting a forward push, was late on the shot as the ball came back in sharply, beating the inside edge and crashing into the off-stump. The GT captain was dismissed for just 2(3) surprised by the movement off the pitch.

At the toss, the GT captain mentioned he would have preferred bowling first, considering the dew factor in recent matches. Despite batting first this time, the focus remains on taking one game at a time, he said. He expressed satisfaction with the top order’s performance, appreciated the home support, and confirmed an unchanged playing XI.
“I would have bowled first as well. Looking at the past few matches, dew has come in during the second innings but we have batted first here. We are taking it one game at a time and not keeping track on how many games we have won. If the top 3 or 4 are doing the job then I am happy with that. We have had a really good home run and hopefully nothing changes for us, support from the fans has always been tremendous. No changes for us,” said Gill during the toss.
