Gaekwad, a revered luminary in Indian cricket, has been stealthily grappling with blood cancer for the past year.
Numerous well-wishes were extended to former Indian cricketer, Anshuman Gaekwad, after his condition worsened during treatment for blood cancer at King's College Hospital in London. Former Indian cricketer, Sandeep Patil, recently visited his ex-teammate, where he discovered Gaekwad's urgent need for funds.
Former Indian skipper, Kapil Dev, recently expressed his heartfelt sentiments in a self-recorded video, where he delivered a moving and touching message for his ex-teammate.
The video, imbued with emotion, featured the 1983 World Cup-winning captain reminiscing about the cherished days when he and Gaekwad were teammates. Kapil Dev recounted his first experience playing under Gaekwad's leadership, as well as the then skipper's double-century against arch-rivals, Pakistan, under Kapil's captaincy in the second Test of the three-match series at the Gandhi Stadium in Jalandhar.
Alongside these poignant memories, Kapil offered a boost of motivation for Gaekwad, urging him to confront his current predicament with the same fighting spirit he displayed on the field. The clip also included heartfelt wishes from Kapil and the cricketing community, interwoven with other personal memories and sentiments Kapil shared throughout.

Speaking of the 71-year-old veteran, despite having played only 55 matches for India, the opening batter was a stalwart in domestic cricket. Born in Mumbai, he played all 261 of his domestic games for Baroda, amassing 13,737 runs and taking a total of 177 catches.
