Cricketer Karun Nair was bought by Delhi Capitals for INR 50 lakh at the mega auction after a bidding war with Royal Challengers Bengaluru ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The ace batter, who has previously played with the franchise during the 2016 and 2017 editions, will once again offer the best of his services in the eighteenth edition of the ten-team tournament.
As DC gear themselves up for their pre-season preparations, Nair made his way into the training camp after enjoying a glorious stint with Vidarbha, this year's Ranji Trophy champions. Notably, Nair has been the best performer with the bat across domestic tournaments this season, where he top-scored for the side in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (T20 Cup) and Vijay Hazare Trophy (List-A competition) and garnered well over 800 runs in the Ranji as well.
In order to mark his entry in a grand fashion, Delhi Capitals made special arrangements as Nair dressed up as Rocky Bhai from K.G.F. - a super hit Sandalwood movie. Their team uploaded the video on social media platforms on the noon of Saturday, March 15, and in no time, it went massively viral on the internet, just like the Kannada movie. They captioned the post, "Are you ready for Karun Nair?"

Nair's 2024-25 domestic season
After a disappointing exit from Karnataka, Nair had found a new home in Vidarbha from 2023-24 domestic season. A decent outing of 500-plus runs in his Vidarbha debut, where they lost in Ranji finals, the India international returned even stronger in the following season.
He amassed an astonishing 863 runs off just nine innings in the red-ball competition, and scored the most for Vidarbha after Yash Rathod's 960. In SMAT 2024, the 33-year-old top-scored for the side with 255 runs in six games, where his strike-rate stood at a mind-boggling 177.08. However, the T20 stint was only a trailer of the blockbuster performance Nair delivered in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, with a record-shattering tally of 779 runs in eight matches at an unbelievable average of 389.50.
Notably, the Kerala-born had also top-scored in the previous edition of the Maharaja T20 Trophy 2024, where he also led Mysuru Warriors to lifting the silverware. With the IPL 2025 on the beckoning, the Kerala-born will be looking to replicate a similar display with the bat and help the team lift their first-ever title in the cash-rich league.
