Former India cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu took a dig at Chennai Super Kings (CSK) stand-in captain MS Dhoni after a poor performance against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Friday, April 11. Ruturaj Gaikwad's elbow injury has ruled him out of the tournament, with CSK bringing in Dhoni as the captain. 

However, the 43-year-old's return to the role was a poor one as CSK failed miserably with the bat in front of their home crowd at Chepauk against Akinkya Rahane and co, losing by eight wickets. This is the first time CSK have lost five consecutive games in the tournament's history, which includes three losses at home.

In a high-intensity game, Dhoni once again came to bat below all-rounders R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja and ended up scoring just one run before being dismissed by Sunil Narine as CSK could manage to score only 103 runs. 

"Arey Dhoni aa rahe hain ji jaise sher aaya, sher aaya, hype thi, badi excitement thi, par khoda pahaad nikli chuhiya. (People were saying Dhoni is coming, the lion is coming. There was so much hype and excitement. But there was nothing to be seen)," said Sidhu during live commentary.

The Chennai-based franchise has eight games left and needs to win at least seven to qualify for the playoffs. If CSK fail to qualify, it wiill be the first time that the team would fail to reach the playoffs in two consecutive seasons. They will play their next game against Lucknow Super Giants at the Ekana Stadium on April 14.
