The legendary Chris Gayle is set to play for Gujarat Greats in the ongoing Legends League Cricket (LLC) 2024. The former West Indies captain arrived in Jodhpur on Tuesday, September 25. He was given a hero's welcome upon arriving at the team hotel.
As the southpaw stepped out of a lavish white car, Dwayne Bravo's popular 'Champion' song played in the background. Gayle was presented with flower bouquets and he generously posed for photographs with the hotel staff. The energy among the crowd which was present to welcome the 45-year-old was palpable as they witnessed a cricketing icon in person.

Gayle's addition is surely going to bolster the Gujarat side after they began their LLC 2024 campaign with one win and one loss. The Shikhar Dhawan-led side has surreal firepower in their batting lineup and Gayle will only enhance it with his flamboyance.
Chris Gayle to feature in clash against Southern Superstars
Gujarat Greats got off the gates in style as they registered a comfortable eight-wicket win against Toyam Hyderabad to begin their campaign. After restricting Suresh Raina's side to 172/7, Gujarat romped home with eight wickets and three balls to spare on the back of an unbeaten 115 off 69 balls from Morne van Wyk.
However, in the second game, against Southern Superstars, Gujarat lost by 26 runs as they couldn't chase down a 145-run target. After restricting the Superstars to 144/9 on the back of Manan Sharma's scintillating six-for, the Gujarat could only muster 118/9 in their 20 overs. Dhawan scored a fighting half-century but didn't get support from his teammates. Only three batters could get to double-digit scores in the low-scoring clash.
Gujarat will get a chance to avenge their defeat as they take on the Superstars once again on Thursday, September 26, at the Barkatullah Khan Stadium in Jodhpur. If he is fit, Gayle should walk straight into the playing XI to beef up Gujarat's batting department.
