WATCH: Mitchell Marsh's wishing Beau Webster's family gesture wins heart; video goes viral
Mitchell Marsh got dropped from Australia's playing XI after a poor show in the ongoing BGT 2024-25.
The Australian team has been the most dominant in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT 2024-25) so far and is currently leading the series 2-1. While there have been some great performances from some of the Australian players the likes of Travis Head and Pat Cummins, there have been some notable players who have not had the best of series. One of them was Aussie all-rounder, Mitchell Marsh.
For the unversed, Marsh has had a forgettable BGT series with only 73 runs in the four games, while averaging only 10.42. The 33-year-old also failed to take wickets with the ball as well, which led to him getting dropped for the final Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground(SCG). As a result, Beau Webster who was a like-for-like replacement for Marsh and has great numbers in first-class cricket made it to Australia's playing XI.
He has scored 5,297 runs and has taken 148 wickets in the 93 games in the domestic circuit. Though getting dropped is never a great feeling, Mitchell Marsh's gesture towards the debutant has been going viral on social media and the fans are in awe of him.
Despite getting axed from the playing XI, Marsh showed no hesitation and went out of his way in congratulating the Websters' family, after he received his much cherished "baggy green" Test cap. Consequently, the cricket fraternity deemed it a true display of sportsmanship from the 2021 T20 World Champion.
