Mind games are on rise in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 and Mohammed Siraj was embroiled in the switching the bails once again. The tussle between Marnus Labuschagne and Siraj took another twist as the pacer did the exact same thing with the bails, which he had previously done in the series. The incident took place in the 43rd over of the opening day, when Siraj walked up to the stumps to swap the bails.

Though Labuschagne stayed resolute even after the unusual move, it was Jasprit Bumrah who came up with the result in the 45th over. Bumrah plucked out the well-set Usman Khawaja on the first ball of the over, just after almost 12 balls of Siraj’s antic. Khawaja scored 57 runs facing 121 balls and also put a crucial 65-run stand for the second wicket with Labuschagne.

Here's the video of the incident:

On the other hand, Labuschagne was looking solid in his defence and dealt some blows as Siraj was charging against him in his spell after the Lunch. But the right-handed batter eventually fell to spinner, Washington Sundar. He ended up scoring 72 runs of 145 balls laced with seven boundaries. He also put up an 83-run stand for the third wicket alongside Steven Smith.

The series is 1-1, a lot to play for: Rohit Sharma

The fourth Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground is crucial for both teams after the previous one resulted in a draw at The Gabba. The series is poised at 1-1 and the Melbourne Test could decide the course of the series with result turning the tables for one team. India captain, Rohit Sharma, iterated that same aspect after losing the coin flip on December 26.

“We would have batted (first) as well, looks like a good wicket. The series is 1-1, a lot to play for, it gives us a perfect opportunity to show what we are as a team. Whatever situation lies in front of you, you have to fight. It's a new day and we are looking forward to it. We have one change - (Shubman) Gill misses out and Washington (Sundar) comes in. (On whether he will bat at the top of the order) Yes, I will,” said Rohit at the toss.
