Royal Challengers Bengaluru are all set to take on Chennai Super Kings in a must-win do-or-die clash in the IPL 2024. Both sides will lock horns at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru in the 68th game of the tournament on Saturday, May 18. Both sides are well in the race for the playoffs, and they will aim to register wins and get through to the knockouts.

Ahead of the clash, the CSK squadron has already reached the venue for practice, and with the game approaching, a heart-warming video was shared on social media as former CSK skipper MS Dhoni made a surprise entry at the RCB dressing room.

Dhoni was captured visiting the RCB dressing room. In the clip, the 42-year-old was seen sharing a beverage in the dressing room, and the video was shared by Royal Challengers Bengaluru across their social media platforms. “Welcome to Bengaluru, Mahi!” they captioned the post on Instagram.

Currently, the Bengaluru-based franchise sits in sixth place in the IPL 2024 points table. With 13 matches played, RCB have won six matches and lost the remaining seven. With their clash against CSK approaching, the Faf du Plessis-led side needs to not only win against the five-time champions, but that margin also needs to be either 20 runs or 11 balls to spare, assuming that the first innings score in the game is 200 (roughly 10 per cent difference of target or balls remaining).

However, for CSK, the defending champions will qualify if RCB either fails to meet those requirements or simply loses the game. Recently, Pat Cummins-led Sunrisers Hyderabad became the third side behind Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals to qualify for the knockout stages of the tournament.

The battle for the fourth spot in the standings is between CSK and RCB, with Lucknow Super Giants and Delhi Capitals being mathematically alive as well. While LSG are virtually knocked out of the race, due to their net run rate, they will have to win their final group game against Mumbai Indians by an extremely huge margin to secure a spot in the knockouts.
