England Women's secured a convincing seven-wicket victory over South Africa Women in the ongoing ICC Women's T20 World Cup at Sharjah Cricket Stadium on October 07. Meanwhile, England's Nat Sciver-Brunt's bizarre run-out during the first innings caught everyone's attention.

The unconventional incident took place in the final over of South Africa's innings. Sciver-Brunt, bowling to Annerie Dercksen, was on the receiving end of a powerful drive. In a quick reaction and impressive footwork, Brunt stuck out her right foot, deflecting the ball onto the stumps at the non-striker's end. Sune Luus, who was outside the crease, was caught short and ran out bizarrely.

England hold the top spot in the points table

The game began with South African skipper Laura Wolvaardt calling it correctly at the toss and electing to bat first. On a tough pitch, the Proteas managed to post a total of 124/6 in their allotted 20 overs. Wolvaardt was the top-scorer for her side with 42 off 39 balls, while Marizanne Kapp (26) and Dercksen (20) provided crucial the late flourish.

England's bowling attack, led by Sophie Ecclestone (2/15), kept the South African batters in check throughout the innings. Linsey Smith, Charlie Dean, and Sarah Glenn also chipped in with a wicket each.

England's chase saw them lose Maia Bouchier early, Danni Wyatt-Hodge (43) and Sciver-Brunt (48*) guided their team home as they won the game with seven wickets and four balls to spare. Ecclestone was named Player of the Match for her economical bowling spell. Meanwhile, with this win the Three Lions are now at the top of their group table with two back-to-back wins and a positive net run rate of 0.653.
