Bangladesh and Netherlands take on each other in Match 27 of the T20 World Cup 2024 at the Arnos Vale Ground, Kingstown, St Vincent on Thursday, June 13. The Dutch won the toss and elected to field first. While Bangladesh came into the game with the same XI that faced South Africa, Netherlands made one crucial change by bringing in Aryan Dutt in place of Teja Nidamanuru.
The Dutch began the innings well, dismissing the opposition captain Najmul Hossain Shanto in the second over itself for 1(3). Litton Das joined the other opener Tanzid Hasan who took the onus to score runs quickly. Das, however, did not get much of a strike and when he did he tried to slog sweep the off spinner Dutt for a six towards deep square leg. The ball gained more height than distance and was intercepted by Sybrand Engelbrecht who was running in from behind square. The catch was no ordinary as Engelbrecht had to cover a considerable amount of ground and dive full length to his left to grab a stunning catch.
The celebrations that followed reflected how good the catch was and uplifted the Dutch as the score read 23/2 in 3.1 overs.
Here's the video of the catch -

Tanzid was subsequently joined by Shakib Al Hasan who has been having his own issues with short deliveries this tournament. Both put on an important partnership of 48(32) before Tanzid was caught by Bas de Leede off Paul van Meekeren in the deep in the ninth over. Towhid Hridoy could not do much as he was bowled by Tim Pringle comprehensively for 9(15). Mahmudullah joined Shakib and the veterans put on 41 runs for the fifth wicket in 32 balls. Mahmudullah perished off Van Meekeren's delivery at 130/5 in 17.3 overs. At the time of publishing, Shakib was still at the crease having crossed the 50-run mark.
