WATCH: Noman Ali becomes first Pakistani spinner to bag Test hattrick

Veteran left-arm spinner Noman Ali created history during the opening day of the second Test match against the West Indies in Multan by becoming the first Pakistani spinner to achieve a hat-trick in the longest format of the game. He also became the fifth Pakistan bowler to complete a hat-trick in red-ball cricket.

With the visitors already struggling at 38/4, the 38-year-old turned the game completely with three consecutive wickets. The trio of Justin Greaves, Tevin Imlach, and Kevin Sinclair fell victim to his brilliance, reducing West Indies to 38/7.

Noman's first wicket of hattrick was in terms of Greaves, who edged a delivery to gully, where Babar Azam completed a simple catch. On the very next ball, Tevin Imlach was trapped plumb in front, beaten by a quicker and fuller delivery that caught him attempting a sweep. The third delivery was a quicker ball with a slight turn that caught Sinclair’s outside edge, flying straight to Babar who was stationed dove low to complete a sharp catch at gully.

Noman Ali becomes the fifth Pakistani to take hat-trick in Test cricket

Pakistan has recorded six hat-tricks in Test cricket, shared between five bowlers. Wasim Akram leads the pack with two hat tricks, while Mohammad Sami, Abdul Razzaq, Naseem Shah, and now Noman, consist of one hat trick apiece.

Meanwhile, in the game, the visitor's current score stands at 68/8 after 20 overs of play, with Gudakesh Motie and Kemar Roach. For the hosts, Ali has already picked four, including the wicket of skipper Kraigg Brathwaite earlier in the day.
