In yet another blunder by Pakistan in their ongoing second Test against Bangladesh, the skipper of the hosts, Shan Masood, dropped an easy catch. In a day filled with misery, where misfields were quite rampant, even Masood failed to save himself from being a victim of it.
Notably, the incident took place In the 75th over of Bangladesh’s first innings. Batter Mehidy Hasan Miraz tried to deflect the ball but ended up offering a rather easy catching chance to Masood. However, Pakistan's skipper was unable to take the catch. At that point of the Test match, Miraz was batting on a score of 12 runs in 46 deliveries when he was dropped.
As a result, this ended up costing Pakistan heavily as the Bangla Tigers' allrounder went on to score 78 runs in 124 deliveries by the end of his innings. Now, speaking of the game, after Pakistan managed to post a total of 274 runs in the first innings, Bangladesh opened the innings with Shadman Islam and Zakir Hasan scoring 10 and one run, respectively. The side’s top order crumbled after Najmul Hossain Shanto was sent packing for four runs, Mominul Haque added just one run on the board, with Mushfiqur Rahim scoring three and Shakib Al Hasan adding two runs on the board.

Litton Das' century puts Bangladesh in command against Pakistan in second Test
As Bangladesh looked to be in a spot of trouble, the wicketkeeper-batter Litton Das stabilized the side’s innings by scoring 138 runs in 228 deliveries, along with Mehidy Hasan Miraz who scored a vital 78 runs. Bangladesh ended up posting a total of 262 runs in the first innings, minimising their lead as much as possible.

As for Pakistan, Khurram Shahzad gave much-needed respite to skipper Shan Masood, as he was the highest wicket-taker with six wickets to his name in the first innings. Salman Agha and Mir Hamza took two wickets each as well. The day ended with Pakistan batting on a score of nine runs but losing two early wickets in the process. Abdullah Shafique and Khurram Shahzad departed for three and zero runs. With a lead of 21 runs, Pakistan will hope to post a big target for Bangladesh to chase.
