All-rounder Kieron Pollard smashed seven sixes en route to his unbeaten 52-run onslaught against St Lucia Kings to help Trinbago Knight Riders pick up a four-wicket win in the ongoing Caribbean Premier League 2024. The hosts posted 187 runs on board in the first innings as captain Faf du Plessis made 34 runs while Roston Chase hit an unbeaten 56. For Trinbago, Sunil Narine and Waqar Salamkheil picked up two wickets each.
Openers Sunil Narine and Jason Roy flopped when it came to the chase. Youngster Shaqkere Parris made 57 off 33 but it looked difficult for Knight Riders to get the job done. That’s when Pollard came to the scene and changed the complexion of the game. Interestingly, Pollard did not hit a single boundary during his innings but smacked seven sixes, including four in the last five balls that he faced.

“We got off to a great start, young Shaq (Parris) came in and showed his talent. He set the tempo. We lost some wickets in the middle but that’s why it’s a team sport and we came in and played our part later. If it’s my role to finish games, that’s what I’ll do. Now that I’ve played a lot of cricket around the world, it’s my opportunity to give opportunities and play around others till I call it quits,” Pollard said in the post-match presentation.
