Legendary India cricketer and World Cup winning head coach Rahul Dravid is currently spending some time in his home town Bengaluru after a busy schedule with Rajasthan Royals ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. However, after a hectic cricketing calendar, Dravid hasn't been having a peaceful stay in Bengaluru, as the localite was seen in a heated verbal exchange with an auto driver on Tuesday, February 04's evening.

The incident took place on the Cunningham Road, a road not far from the city's historic M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, where he has a Wall of Excellence in his honour.

According to multiple witnesses present at the place of occurrence, Dravid tried to keep his calm, quite akin to the general perception of his nature in the public. The Indore-born followed a very soft-spoken approach to chat with the auto driver, however, the latter was seen carrying a fuming tone in his exchange of words, causing a chaotic situation on the busy road.

The audio of the verbal altercation between the two couldn't be heard clearly, however, the eyewitnesses said that Dravid explained the driver of the collision not being his mistake since the latter hit brakes abruptly, leaving little scope of control for him to pull the handbrake. The auto-driver, in Kannada, accepted that it was indeed his mistake, but Dravid could have done better to save the crash.

The witnesses further confirmed that due to sudden brakes applied by the auto driver carrying goods, Dravid could not stop his SUV vehicle in time, and had a minor collision, where no major accident or any casualties took place. As of now, no FIR or police complaint has been lodged in the matter related thereto, however, due to the video going viral in a matter of minutes, law enforcement may look to investigate further into the matter. Further details are awaited.

Dravid seeks IPL title with RR

For the unversed, Dravid had head coached India to triumph at the T20 World Cup 2024, where the Men in Blue were led by Rohit Sharma on June 29. The day also marked as the last official match of Dravid as India Men's coach, following which, IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals acquired his services.

Notably, the 52-year-old also represented the franchise as a player between 2011 and 2013 after switching from a three-year stint with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB, now Bengaluru). As the 2025 edition of the cash-rich league approaches, Dravid would aim at stewarding the Jaipur-based franchise to a silverware, as the original champions of 2008 await their second title. The seasoned campaigner would be hoping to add another feather to his already-illustrious cap in his coaching career.
