Watch: Rashid Latif blames PCB for Rachin Ravindra's freak injury at Gaddafi Stadium
Latif blamed the LED lights for Rachin Ravindra's injury during the first ODI against New Zealand.
The Pakistan ODI Tri-series has begun and there was already a lot of drama in the first ODI between Pakistan and New Zealand itself where Rachin Ravindra suffered a freak injury while fielding at mid-wicket. The Kiwi was going for a catch after Khushdil Shah slog swept a Michael Bracewell delivery. Unfortunately, the ball struck him straight on the forehead.
These were ugly scenes at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore where the star batting all-rounder was bleeding profusely after suffering the impact and was straight away taken off the field. It seemed like Ravindra had lost sight of the ball while going for the catch and this has now led fans to question the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and criticise the lights at the ground. Former Pakistan wicketkeeper and skipper Rashid Latif also shared his views on the incident saying that the LED lights in the stadium were responsible for the injury to the cricketer.
“The glow is more in such lights. Hence, when the ball travels flat, you are often unable to see it," Latif said this on a show called ‘Caught Behind’.

Speaking of the match, New Zealand won the opening game of the Tri-series convincingly where Kane Williamson and Daryl Mitchell starred with half-centuries and Glenn Phillips scored his maiden century in ODI cricket which got them to a total of 330 at the end of 50 overs. Despite the knocks from Fakhar Zaman and Salman Agha, Pakistan were bowled out for 252 falling 78 runs short of the target. Phillips was adjudged the Player of the Match for his 106* off just 74 deliveries. This was not the best start for the Mohammad Rizwan-led side and they would be looking to win the next match to make it to the final.
