Nitish Kumar Reddy made the cricket fraternity stand up and salute his talent when he scored a fantastic century on Day 3 of the fourth Test between India and Australia at the iconic MCG on Saturday, December 28.

After he reached the magical three-figure mark with a lofted hit over mid-on in the final session which went for a boundary, the camera panned to his father, Mutyala, who was seen in tears. However, the proud father wasn't the only one who got emotional after the 21-year-old all-rounder's sensational feat.

Star Sports posted a video on their official social media handles where Ravi Shastri was seen doing Hindi commentary during the moment with Irfan Pathan and Jatin Sapru for company. The former India head coach said, "This is a century which brings tears to your eyes. I don't think only his father will be crying right now. The entire crowd which is here will have tears in their eyes."

Shortly after this comment, Shastri kept his microphone down and was seen wiping his tears. It was an emotional moment for the legendary cricketer-turned-commentator, who has seen the growth of Indian cricket from close quarters.

Nitish came out to the middle and joined Ravindra Jadeja when India were reeling at 191/6 in the first session on Day 3. After a 30-run stand, India lost their seventh wicket as the Saurashtra all-rounder departed for 17. India still needed 54 runs to avoid the follow-on at this stage.

Washington Sundar partnered Nitish and the two young cricketers showed great resilience as they added a magnificent 127-run partnership off 285 balls. Sundar departed shortly after scoring his fourth half-century in Test cricket. Jasprit Bumrah also fell a couple of overs later. At Stumps on Day 3, India finished at 358/9, with Nitish remaining unbeaten on 105 off 176 balls, belting 10 fours and a solitary six. Australia are still ahead by 116 runs and will look to take the last Indian wicket without conceding too many on Day 4.
