With full-time skipper of Australia Women, Alyssa Healy, out for the game against India Women due to suffering an acute injury to her right foot, it was Grace Harris who opened in her place.

A miserly second over of the game by Shreyanka Patil prompted just a hint of pressure on Beth Mooney, who after being witness to a full delivery outside the leg-stump going for five wides, tried to cut a widish delivery which was angling away the moment Renuka Singh released the ball. It was a moment of brilliance by the late call-up, Radha Yadav, who took a tumbling catch while diving forward to grant Renuka her sixth wicket of her campaign.

The very next delivery saw a surprising move being pulled out, with leg-spinner Georgia Wareham arriving to the crease, with a motive to preserve standby skipper Tahlia McGrath & Co. The delivery angled into Wareham's pads striking her in front, with the umpire having no hesitation in raising her finger. Harris quickly came to Wareham to ask her whether she wanted to review but to no avail. However, the Hawk-Eye depicted the delivery sliding down leg, meaning Wareham could have been saved had she opted to go upstairs.

Harmanpreet's knock goes in vain

Australia posted a competitive total of 151 runs with Grace Harris being the top-scorer with 40 runs. In reply, India's openers failed to go big. The onus fell on the skipper Harmanpreet who was at the crease till the end, scoring 54 runs off 47 balls but she did not get enough support from the other batters. Eventually, India lost the game by 9 runs. Their semi-final hopes now lie in the result of the New Zealand vs Pakistan game on Monday, October 14.
