Rishabh Pant was not retained by the Delhi Capitals ahead of IPL 2025 mega auctions. The DC captain’s release came as a surprise for many fans. Now the grapevine is abuzz with the speculations of Pant’s potential arrival at some of the major franchises in the league. The fervour has reached Australia and the southpaw was queried about the same in the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Perth by veteran spinner Nathan Lyon in a playful moment.

As Pant came into bat, he looked in his usual touch. Lyon walked up to the wicketkeeper-batter and queried which franchise is the latter looking forward to in the coming auction. The question was well received by Pant as the Uttarakhand batter replied: "No idea".

Here’s the video of Pant’s chat with Lyon:

We played Test match here in 2018; we know what to expect: Jasprit Bumrah

Speaking of the first Test in Perth, India’s stand-in captain Jasprit Bumrah won the toss and opted to bat, which was termed as bold decision by the former cricketers.

“We are going to bat first, looks like a good wicket. Very confident with our preparation. We played a Test match here in 2018 so we know what to expect. The wicket gets quicker. Nitish makes his debut. We have 4 quicks and Washi is the lone spinner,” Bumrah said at the toss.

The move did not work as India lost quick wickets in the form of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Devdutt Padikkal as the duo registered ducks. KL Rahul and Virat Kohli scored 26 and five respectively while Dhruv Jurel and Washington Sundar walked back scoring 11 and four respectively. Rishabh Pant stitched a crucial 48-run stand with debutant, Nitish Reddy before departing for 37 off 48.
