Team India put in an excellent performance against Bangladesh across the first three days of the ongoing first Test. Posting a total of 376 runs in the first innings, India limited the visitors to a meagre score of 149 runs. As the hosts came out to bat in the second innings, they once again put in a good showing with the bat on the whole.

Notably, India’s top order failed to go big in the second innings as openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma scored 10 and five runs, respectively. Furthermore, Virat Kohli was dismissed for just 17 runs as well. 

However, it was the knocks of Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant that propelled India to a score of 287 runs in the second innings before the side declared. Despite the many performances in the innings, it was something completely different that caught the eyes of the fans. 

Star India batter Rishabh Pant went viral after he was captured praying to his bat before walking out. The clip of the same has been making the rounds all over social media.

Bangladesh require 515 runs to win first Test

It has been a roller coaster of a Test match for Bangladesh. Coming into the series on the back of defeating Pakistan in their own backyard, the visitors backed themselves and looked to be in good flow in the early stages of the game as they reduced India to 144/6.

However, as soon as Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin built a solid partnership in the latter stages of the first day, Bangladesh’s performance continued to take a dip. After conceding 376 runs in the first innings, the visitors failed to put in a good showing with the bat as well. 

Jasprit Bumrah, Akash Deep, Mohammed Siraj, and Ravindra Jadeja looked to be in good flow as they bundled out Bangladesh for just 149 runs, maintaining their lead. Furthermore, the hosts followed it up by scoring 287 runs in the second innings, giving the visitors a target of 515 runs to chase down.
