India captain Rohit Sharma once again made the headlines for his on-field antics in the second ODI against Sri Lanka in Colombo. In the 33rd over of the match, the 37-year-old was spotted charging towards Washington Sundar with a punch after the latter missed his footing twice. Rohit, who was stationed at slips was unhappy after the first instance and lost it when it happened again.
He ran towards Sundar, who immediately turned his back and was spotted smiling. Keeper KL Rahul was also in splits and Hindi commentators Aakash Chopra and Ajay Jadeja too were joking about the same as the video of it went viral on social media.

Sundar however had a good outing in the second ODI as the all-rounder picked up three crucial wickets of Avishka Fernando, Kusal Mendis and captain Charith Asalanka. He gave away just 30 runs in his ten overs as Sri Lanka posted 240 runs in the first innings. For India, Kuldeep Yadav picked up two wickets while Axar Patel and Mohammed Siraj picked one each.
Interestingly, Rohit also bowled a couple of overs in the match. Ahead of the series, the team management made it clear that they wanted more batters to bowl in the series and keeping that in mind, Rinku Singh and Suryakumar Yadav were seen bowling in the third T20I. Rohit this time took charge and gave away 11 runs in two overs. The captain also bowled against Netherlands in the ODI World Cup 2023.
Meanwhile, India need a strong start to get the job done in the second ODI and take a 1-0 lead in the series. The skipper was terrific in the first ODI and would be aiming to continue in the same fashion. Top order batters Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli will have to take more responsibility as it won’t be an easy chase given the surface is going to favour the spinners. Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul too will be vital for the chase.
