During the first ODI between India and Sri Lanka in Colombo on August 02, 2024, the star duo of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma shared a jovial laugh over a creative fan poster. The incident occurred as the Indian team took the field, and has since gone viral on social media platforms.
As the Indian cricketers gathered near the boundary ropes, Kohli's attention was caught by a fan's poster in the stands. He quickly alerted Sharma to what he had spotted, a reimagined poster of the iconic Bollywood movie 'Lagaan', featuring the current Indian cricket team as characters from the film.
The poster, titled "Modern Day Lagaan Warriors," cleverly replaced the face of the movie's lead actor, Aamir Khan, with that of Indian skipper Sharma. Other team members were similarly incorporated into the poster. The creative artwork quickly got the attention of both players, who couldn't contain their laughter.

The reimagined poster went viral last year after the Men in Blue defeated England in the ODI World Cup. Kohli and Rohit were the top two run-getters in the ICC event held in India. The 37-year-old led India to their second T20 World Cup title as the side won the 2024 T20 World Cup in West Indies and the United States in June.
Sri Lanka defeated India in second ODI
The first ODI was a memorable one as the hosts posted a total of 230/8 in their allotted 50 overs. The Indian batters couldn't capitalize on the start they got from their skipper, and the match eventually turned into a tie.
In the second ODI, Charith Asalanka & Co. posted a total of 240/9 in their 50 overs. India's chase started promisingly with Sharma (64) and Shubman Gill (35) putting on a solid opening partnership. However, the team ultimately fell short, bowled out for 208 runs, giving the island nation a 32-run victory and a 1-0 lead in the series.
