WATCH: Sanjiv Goenka’s nervous reaction after Rishabh Pant’s dismissal goes viral in LSG vs MI clash
Lucknow Super Giants owner Sanjiv Goenka’s anxious and amusing reaction after Rishabh Pant’s early dismissal becomes a talking point among IPL 2025 fans.

The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) won a thrilling home game against the Mumbai Indians at the Ekana Stadium, maintaining their dominance over the Mumbai-based franchise. While it was a moment of celebration for the team, the form of skipper Rishabh Pant remains a significant concern. The reaction of LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka to Pant’s dismissal has also gone viral.
The Lucknow franchise will be pleased that they were able to perform under pressure and win their second home game, bouncing back after a disappointing loss to the Punjab Kings (PBKS). However, it was yet another day where LSG’s most expensive player underperformed with the bat, managing only two runs from the six balls he faced.
The 2021 Gabba hero and 2024 T20 World Champion could only manage a leading edge off the delivery from MI skipper Hardik Pandya, which was enough for substitute Corbin Bosch to take an exceptional diving catch. Apart from the dismissal, it is Sanjiv Goenka’s reaction that has caught the attention of fans — a nervous smile that looked rather comical. It could well become fodder for numerous memes in the coming days.

Pant not living up to his price tag
Rishabh Pant is not only the most expensive player for LSG but also the overall costliest player in the IPL. The star wicketkeeper was bought for a whopping ₹27 crore in the mega auction and was named the new LSG skipper, replacing KL Rahul, who was released and eventually bought by the Capitals.
However, Pant has yet to live up to the hype. In the four games he has featured in so far, he has managed to score only 19 runs at an average of 4.75, with a dismal strike rate of 59.37. While he has still shown promise as a leader, the team will be hoping he finds some form as the tournament progresses.
