Veteran Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan loses his calm on Day 5 of the first Test against Pakistan at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. The incident happened in the 33rd over of Pakistan’s second innings when Shakib got irritated by Mohammad Rizwan, who was batting alongside Shafique Abdullah. The keeper-batter was taking too long to settle down, which disrupted Shakib’s momentum and in return, he threw the ball towards Rizwan, leaving the umpire stunned.

The 37-year-old has a history of on-field altercation and it only got added to the list. Meanwhile, realising his mistake, Shakib apologised to the umpire after a while, who gave him a long stare. Later, captain Najmul Hossain Shanto came in to complain to the umpire about Rizwan, who was wasting time but he didn’t pay too much attention to it.

Watch the video below:

Pakistan’s batting completely flopped in the second innings, which gave Bangladesh the hope of winning the match. The hosts are trailing by nine runs at Lunch on the final day and have only four wickets on their hands. Smelling a victory, Bangladesh were eager to wrap up first but Rizwan was making things slower, which made Shakib furious.

For now, Bangladesh would be hoping to pick up the remaining four wickets of Pakistan and chase whatever total they post. The pitch is favouring the spinners as Shakib has picked up two wickets while Shoriful Islam, Hasan Mahmud, Nahid Rana and Mehidy Hasan Miraz picked up one each. They have the game on their hands but everything depends on how well Bangladesh bowls in the penultimate session of the day.

For Pakistan, things depend on how Rizwan bats in the final innings. Star batters Shan Masood, and Babar Azam once again failed to put up a show, which put the middle order under pressure. Rizwan, who scored 171* runs in the first innings has a massive responsibility and so does Shaheen Shah Afridi, who is batting alongside him.
