Former opener and tournament ambassador Shikhar Dhawan interacted with his ex-teammates ahead of India's game against Bangladesh in the Champions Trophy 2025 in Dubai.
Dhawan, who retired from international cricket in August 2024, was seen engaging in a fun interaction with the Indian players ahead of their clash. The meeting saw him exchanging pleasantries with captain Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, and other team members. Dhawan and Kohli shared a hug before breaking into an impromptu bhangra.
Later Rohit complimented Dhawan on his fitness and young appearance. KL Rahul also joined in, speaking on Dhawan's fitness. Dhawan opened up about the reunion.
“Recreated my memories and meeting my boys after such a long time, it’s a great feeling, I’m very very happy. Munde pure tagde hai [The boys are tough],” said in a video posted by ICC.

Shikhar Dhawan is India's highest run-scorer in the Champions Trophy
Meanwhile, the former opener holds a special place in the history of the ICC Champions Trophy. Having played in two editions (2013 and 2017), he remains India's highest run-scorer in the tournament with 701 runs at an average of 77.88. His tally includes three centuries and three half-centuries, with a best of 125. His performances in the 2013 and 2017 tournaments earned him two consecutive Golden Bats and the prestigious 'Player of the Tournament' award in 2013.
He was also appointed as the official ambassador for the 2025 edition of the Champions Trophy. Alongside Dhawan, the ambassadorial panel includes Pakistan's 2017 title-winning captain Sarfaraz Ahmed, Australian all-rounder Shane Watson, and New Zealand pacer Tim Southee.

With the memories of their 2017 final loss to Pakistan still fresh, India will be looking to claim the coveted trophy. The Rohit-led side kicked off their campaign against Bangladesh in Dubai, followed by clashes against Pakistan and New Zealand, respectively.
