I sometimes scold them because I am their elder: Sunil Gavaskar

After the final, Gavaskar opened up about how sometimes he critiques India's performance, but he does so cause he is their elder and wants the team to play strong brand of cricket.

“I sometimes scold them because I am their elder. I know they can do well, and they thoroughly deserve this trophy,” he said on Star Sports.

India’s campaign was nothing short of brilliant. They remained unbeaten throughout the tournament, displaying their skills and abilities. New Zealand, despite their fight, could not stop the opposition from clinching the title. Batting first, the Kiwis put 251/7, with Daryl Mitchell’s 63 and Michael Bracewell’s 53 providing the support with the bat. However, India’s spinners, Kuldeep Yadav and Varun Chakravarthy were the game-changers, together taking crucial wickets and restricting the scoring rate.

India started their chase with a solid 105-run opening stand between Rohit Sharma (76) and Shubman Gill (31). However, New Zealand kept coming back, picking up wickets at crucial times. However, India’s batting depth ensured they got over the line with an over to spare.
