The India vs Pakistan Champions Trophy clash ended in favour of the Men in Blue who comfortably chased down the target of 242 and the star of the game was Virat Kohli who went on to score his maiden Champions Trophy century against the arch-rivals who are now potentially knocked out of the tournament.

Though it was another chase masterclass from the India legend there was one unusual incident on the field that caught the attention of the commentators. Former India cricketer-turned-commentator Sunil Gavaskar was unhappy with Virat Kohli blocking the throw of a fielder. The 75-year-old reckoned that Kohli was lucky that the Pakistan side did not appeal for obstructing the field after that incident. He also observed that the fielder who was meant to back up did not cover enough distance and perhaps there would have been a run or two available for overthrow.

“Nobody is backing up. The fielder at the midwicket would have had to dive, but there was no need for him to interfere with the progress of the ball. He (Kohli) is lucky nobody has appealed,” Gavaskar said.

The little master was not the only one who went on to criticise Kohli for this as former Pakistan player and 1992 ODI World Cup winner Ramiz Raja, who in the last over was praising Kohli's game awareness, shared a humorous remark.

“And here I was, raving about his game-awareness,” Raja chuckled.

Speaking of India’s campaign, they have won their first two matches and have potentially qualified for the semi-finals of the tournament and will next be playing against New Zealand on March 2 at the Dubai International Stadium once again.
