The iconic Wankhede Stadium situated in Mumbai, shares a deep and memorable history with Indian cricket. January 19 (Sunday) was an auspicious day for the iconic venue as it celebrated its 50 years of existence. To celebrate the occasion, a huge event was organized where laser shows and dance numbers entertained the cricket lovers. Notably, the event also featured some Indian legends the likes of Sachin Tendulkar and Sunil Gavaskar.
The two were no doubt one of the biggest legends of Indian cricket who came into prominence through the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA). During the event, Both the legends had already opened up about the memories at the venue. While Gavaskar cherished the venue by saying that he felt like a home ground. Sachin reflected on his memories of the 2011 World Cup final against Sri Lanka which was played at this ground.
Interstingly, during the event, Gavaskar showed the world his lesser-known side. While all the legendary players were invited up onto the stage to shake a leg, the 'Little Master' too joined the bandwagon. Aged 75, the 1983 World Cup champion showed a lot of energy while dancing to Shah Rukh Khan’s 'Deewangi Deewangi' from the film 'Om Shanti Om' and also singing it at the top of his lungs. This left the audience in awe of the Indian legend.
Besides, Sachin Tendulkar also joined him in the celebration singing the chorus as well. Gavaskar who was known for his discipline and elegant strokeplay during the old days, displayed a rare wild side of himself on the stage by coming up with his own dance moves.
