Mohammad Nawaz and Tanzim Hasan Sakib bumped into each other and subsequently got involved in a war of words during the Khulna Tigers (KHT) versus Sylhet Strikers (SYL) clash in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2025 on Sunday, January 12.
The Sylhet International Cricket Stadium witnessed a riveting clash on Sunday as the home team eked out an eight-run victory against the Mehidy Hasan Miraz-led side. The contest between the bat and ball was intense and the players weren't willing to give each other an inch.
Khulna needed 53 runs to get off the last four overs, with Nawaz firing on all cylinders. However, Tanzim got the better of him with an excellent slower delivery that completely deceived the southpaw. Nawaz tried to bail out of the shot at the last moment but it was to no avail. The ball went off the top half of the bat, straight into the hands of Zakir Hasan at short third man.
It seemed that Tanzim showed him the way out. Nawaz reacted to this and the two cricketers bumped into each other, bringing back memories of the infamous incident from the Border-Gavaskar series involving Virat Kohli and Sam Konstas. Tanzim and Nawaz got involved in a heated verbal exchange before George Munsey rushed in to pacify things. The umpires and the other Sylhet fielders also came in to calm things down as the Pakistani all-rounder finally turned around and started his walk back to the hut.

Earlier in the day, Rony Talukdar and Zakir Hasan scored magnificent half-centuries to help Sylhet post a formidable total after Mehidy opted to bowl first. Khulna fought hard but the Sylhet bowlers managed to hold their nerves and gave their team two vital points from the game. Tanzim, Reece Topley, and Ruyel Miah took two wickets apiece, while Nahidul Islam chipped in with the solitary wicket of Mohammad Naim.
