Having missed out on his maiden Test ton in 2023 (85) and 2024 (78) against the West Indies, Tony de Zorzi finally reached to the landmark on Day 1 of the second Test against Bangladesh in Chattogram. He reached their in 146 deliveries, sweeping Mehidy Hasan Miraz's delivery to the right of deep backward square-leg.
De Zorzi took off his helmet in elation after the ball made its way to the boundary, and pulled off Chelsea's attacking midfielder Cole Palmer's trademark celebration. It was indeed an ice-cold innings by the opener on a hot day in Chattogram during which the batters had to grind it out to reap rewards.

Stubbs also brought up a well-deserved ton before he became Taijul Islam's second victim of the day. The duo added a potentially match-winning 201-run partnership to ensure their team remained in the driving seat. South Africa ended the day with de Zorzi unbeaten on 141 with David Bedingham giving him company.
