World Cup 2023 is a bad dream every Indian wants to forget. India were outclassed by the Australian team in front of the jampacked Narendra Modi Stadium on November 19, 2023. When talking about the Indian innings, Virat Kohli’s dismissal could be termed as the turning point of the game. The star Indian batter was looking in great touch and was outdone by Australia captain Pat Cummins.
Cummins bowled a short-of-length delivery dug in on the stumps. Kohli rose on his toes to defend, with a slightly angled bat and faltered. The ball took an inside-edge and pitching onto the popping crease, fell on the stumps. Kohli was discussing the same with Gautam Gambhir ahead of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru match against Kolkata Knight Riders on Sunday, April 21.

The 35-year-old started with three consecutive boundaries off Mitchell Starc. And after hitting Glenn Maxwell for four, he just aimed to rotate the strike with KL Rahul. As common with his usual style of play, it was an apt time for him to accelerate during the 29th over. He was batting on 54 off 62 deliveries and Cummins made the Ahmedabad crowd go hush with the dismissal.
RCB on verge of losing another year in trophy race
Talking about the Indian Premier League 2024, RCB have continued their dismal performance in the ongoing tournament. In seven matches played, they have mustered only one win. Their playoff chances look bleak and they need to pull the rabbit out of a hat to make it to the knockouts. On the other hand, Kohli is looking in fine touch, leading the charts for the Orange Cap holders.
"The belief is definitely there. If there is no belief, there is no point playing in a tournament like the IPL. Every year, there have been teams at this stage, trying to find their feet, haven't had a great tournament. But there have been so many instances where they have picked up and won matches. We believe that if we can do something special, there have been a few matches, where we can get the momentum and use that to our advantage," said Dinesh Karthik in RCB’s pre-match press conference.
