Virat Kohli showed signs of returning to form in the third ODI against England at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Wednesday, February 12. However, he was dismissed by a beautiful delivery bowled by Adil Rashid.

After missing the first ODI due to a knee problem and getting out cheaply in the second, Kohli would have been desperate to get some runs under his belt, with the Champions Trophy on the horizon. The right-handed batter walked out to the crease in the second over itself after Rohit was dismissed by Mark Wood. Kohli played with a positive intent and hit some delightful boundaries against the England seamers.

The former India captain brought up his 73rd ODI half-century in the 18th over of the innings when he pushed a leg-spinner from Liam Livingstone through point. He got to the landmark off just 50 deliveries, hitting seven fours and a solitary six.

Fans were cheering for every run that was coming from Kohli's blade as they were expecting a big knock from the stalwart. However, Rashid bowled a brilliant delivery to get the better of the 36-year-old. The experienced bowler bowled a flighted delivery on the stumps and it turned away after pitching. The drift, and then a bit of turn, got the better of Kohli as the ball kissed the outside edge as he was trying to defend and settled into the mitts of wicketkeeper Phil Salt.

Kohli was dismissed for 52 after facing 55 balls. This was the 11th time he lost his wicket to Rashid across formats - joint-most by a bowler alongside Tim Southee and Josh Hazlewood. In ODI cricket, Rashid picked up the Delhi batter's wicket for the fifth time in 10 innings.

Kohli couldn't convert his half-century into a three-figure score but his 116-run partnership off 107 balls with Shubman Gill set the platform for a solid first-innings total for the Men in Blue.
