Day 2 of the ongoing Boxing Day Test between India and Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) saw a pitch invader running onto the field, attempting to hug Indian batting superstar Virat Kohli. The incident occurred in the middle of when Kohli faced hostility from sections of the crowd.
Kohli is being criticised by the Australian media for the shoulder-budge incident with Sam Konstas that took place on Day 1 of the ongoing fourth Test. The alteration drew widespread attention, and Kohli was welcomed with boos from the MCG crowd throughout Day 2. During all this the intruder sprinted past security, first heading toward Indian captain Rohit Sharma, stationed in the slip cordon.
After briefly evading the guards, the individual changed direction and made his way to Kohli. The invader managed to side-hug the veteran batter before being intercepted by security personnel. The invasion caused a brief pause in play, but the situation was quickly controlled as the intruder was escorted off the field.

On the same day, when the 36-year-old was fielding at the boundary line many fans were constantly booing the batter and chanting ‘You are a wan*er’. The veteran on the other hand was enjoying that the crowd got louder and gestured that he couldn't hear them and asked them to keep going and getting more loud.

Meanwhile, the visitor's performance on the field has been a cause of concern. Hoping for breakthroughs with the fresh second ball, the Indian bowlers bowled an inconsistent line. Steve Smith and Australian skipper Pat Cummins capitalized on these chances, making a crucial 112-run partnership for the seventh wicket, with the former scoring a ton. Ravindra Jadeja eventually dismissed Cummins, but not before Australia had scored 474 runs. India's woes continued to their batting, with captain Rohit departing early for just three runs after opening the innings.
