WATCH: Virat Kohli makes light work of RCB's skill challenge ahead of IPL 2025 opener
Virat Kohli is coming into the tournament on the back of a splendid showing with the bat in the 2025 Champions Trophy, playing a crucial role in India's triumph.
The legendary Virat Kohli was seen participating in a skill challenge in one of Royal Challengers Bengaluru's (RCB) practice sessions ahead of the opening encounter in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the iconic Eden Gardens on Saturday, March 22.
The former India and RCB skipper juggled the ball off his bat with consummate ease as his teammates looked on. The video was posted by the franchise on their social media handles.
"Treat to sore eyes! Skills challenge ft. Virat Kohli," the caption read.
On Thursday, March 20, Kohli was seen facing up to veteran seamers Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood in the RCB nets. The Delhi batter looked comfortable against Hazlewood but Bhuvneshwar troubled him with his swing. Kohli tried to counter the movement by using his feet to get to the pitch of the ball. However, he missed the line on a few occasions.
IPL 2025 opener likely to get abandoned
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has left no stone unturned in making the IPL 2025 opening ceremony a starry affair with performances from Shreya Ghoshal and Disha Patani lined up. After the performances, arch-rivals KKR and RCB will collide to get the tournament underway.
However, there is a serious chance of weather playing spoilsport in the clash. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted thunderstorms and rain for South Bengal from Thursday to Sunday. On the day of the encounter, an Orange Alert has been issued, while a Yellow Alert has been issued for the following day.

As per Accuweather, there's a 74% chance of rain in Kolkata on Saturday, while cloud cover is expected to be at 97%. The chance of rainfall goes up to 90% in the evening around the time when the match is scheduled to begin. Eden Gardens has excellent drainage facilities though and cricket enthusiasts will keep their fingers crossed.
