Every batting great in the history of cricket has a shot synonymous with their gameplay. For ace Indian batter, Virat Kohli, it is his elegant cover-drive which is something he has played on countless occastions to utter precision.

It was Yashasvi Jaiswal's dismissal which brought Kohli to the middle. Having been dismissed for his 38th duck in the first innings, the initial phase of Kohli's innings was just centred on getting himself off the mark. He did so in on the 15th delivery he faced.

The majestic shot come out of Kohli's blade off William O’Rourke in the 25th over of India's second innings. He presenting the full face of the bat to stike the a full-of-a-good-length ball with finesse towards the left of the fielder at cover as the ball galloped towards the boundary.

Kohli, Sarfaraz notch respective half-centuries; spearhead Indian fightback

Kohli and Sarfaraz Khan aimed to close in on the deficit as they struck half-centuries to keep India in pole position despite conceding a significant lead. After cleaning up the tail in the second session of the day, India responded positively with a brisk opening stand between Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma.

However, courtesy Ajaz Patel, New Zealand were able to come back as a rush of blood for Jaiswal led to his fall. He danced down the track in a bid to hit the spinner over his head, although only to be stumped after missing the ball completely. Meanwhile, the Indian skipper's dismissal was more of bad luck than anything else, as the ball trickled back to the stumps after he played a forward defense.
