India trail by 193 runs ahead of day 5.
Day 4 of the ongoing third Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT 2024-25) saw Team India fight back a bit after Australia’s dominance in the last two days of the clash. After rain having played spoilsport, the Aussies have still managed to maintain their stronghold in Brisbane, as they posted a mammoth total of 445 runs in the first innings.
Furthermore, the Indian team’s batting woes continued as they looked lacklustre against the host’s exceptional bowling display. At one stage, India were reduced to 51/4 at the end of day 3, and the side needed something special to avoid the follow-on. However, the same story continued on day 4, and the Indian team's chances dented further as the score of 213/9, requiring 33 runs to avoid the follow-on. Coming in as a blessing in disguise, it was the partnership between the last pair of pacers Akash Deep and Jasprit Bumrah that helped India avoid the follow-on.
Remarkably enough, the duo built a partnership of 39 runs from 54 balls, which helped Rohit Sharma and Co. get past the follow-on score of 246 runs. However, one of the most viral moments from the partnership came when Akash Deep managed to hit a massive six against Australia's Skipper, Pat Cummins. In the aftermath of the huge six, the ace India batter Virat Kohli was left jaw dropped, after witnessing Akash Deep’s six, as evident from video the clip of his reactions, which spread like wildfire in the social media domain.
