The game of cricket has various aspects on the go while two teams are having an intense battle on the field with the bat and the ball, especially in the longest and the purest format of the game called- Test cricket. While talking about various elements and emotions involved during the game, players often try to get the better of each other by verbal communication aka sledging or showing aggression on the field.
However, there are times when despite having a tough time or a see-saw battle between the players from respective teams as was visible during the ongoing first Test of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT 2024-25), being played between Australia (AUS) and India (IND). While Team India dominated most of the sessions, some light-hearted moments were shared between the players of both teams. One such instance has garnered a lot of attention among the fans and the cricket experts alike. On Day 3 of the Perth Test, star India batter Virat Kohli was seen having banters with the Australian players.
Ace Australian off spin wizard Nathan Lyon bowled an absolute ripper which nearly cleaned up Kohli at one stage, as the ball missed the leg stump by a whisker after taking a sharp turn from the off-stump channel. However, after both the batter and wicketkeeper missed the ball totally while running towards the non-striker's end, Lyon told Virat Kohli that his delivery was "decent". In reply, Kohli who seemingly thought that the off-spinner was on cloud nine after watching that sharp turn, playfully told him to stay easy.
Meanwhile, in another instance during the Test match, when Rishabh Pant tried to dominate Mitchell Marsh's delivery by dancing down the track in an attempt to whack him out of the park. However, at the last moment, he decided to let the ball go through to the wicketkeeper. Watching this from the other end, Kohli took a cheeky dig on Pant in front of Marsh by saying that since the IPL mega auction was knocking on the door, the southpaw wanted to impress the franchise owners to fetch whopping money. Moreover, he also asked Australian wicketkeeper Alex Carey whether the ball spun both ways, which left the players in splits while on the field.
