Richard Kettleborough did a potential favour to Virat Kohli during a game against Bangladesh in World Cup 2023 as Kohli got to his century since the umpire did not give a wide call. The same duo was action again, but Kettleborough's decision cost Kohli his wicket this time.

The star India batter was batting on 17 against Bangladesh in the first Test in Chennai when Mehidy Hasan Miraz's fuller delivery thud into his pad. Kohli moved forward in defence and the first glance was enough for Kettleborough to oblige Mehidy and Bangladesh's appeal for lbw. The veteran was given out and was not too keen on challenging the decision even after having a short discussion with non-striker Shubman Gill. All of it only for the UltraEdge to show a spike later.

Here’s Kohli’s unfortunate dismissal:

India hold tight grasp on Chennai Test

India, after posting 376 in their first innings, ran over the Bangladeshi batting lineup as they contained the visitors for just 149 runs. With a massive lead of 227 behind their back, the intent was clear as Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma started dealing in boundaries after India decided not to enforce the follow on. Wickets tumbled at one end but the lead started to swell. At Stumps on Day 2, India lead by 308 runs Gill and Pant on unbeaten 33 and 12 respectively.

“First we have to bat very well, we have to put somewhere around 120-150 from hereon. We'll be in a good position and then we'll come out and bowl and try and get them out as early as possible. (Pitch) It's pretty good for batting but there's still something in the wicket for the fast bowlers,” said Jadeja after stumps.
